Late in this blog....so last week I did a xmas party for TCU. It was held at Froggy Bottom Beach Club. Cool spot with real cheap drinks. Well with this gig I got my second fav request ever.


Dude: When are you going to play some good music?

Dude: ummm, Will Smith, yeah, Will Smith, play that Miami song it'll get the party jumping.


I mean don't get me wrong Will Smith has some classic songs....back in the day, but I wasnt expecting this request. To think of it Will Smith has to do with my first fav request. It was at a middle school gig last year and a kid asked if I had the Bad Boys 2 Soundtrack. The kid had the saddest face when I told him no.

yeah, so last Friday was Halloween. As usual we did our Halloween part. Well for the most part when we and crew throw a shindig its like about what we want to play/do. Well some how this year it semt the kiddies thought this was about being KRUNK like the club.

Alot of my gigs as of late have been school dances and I have to play nothing but Top 40 Rap/Hip-Hop. With us being in control I was wanting to play whatever I felt, but daang this year the kids there wanted me to be in playing BS mode like "Stanky Leg" and "Ricky Bobby (dance)". ehhhh, we played a little bit, but as soon as we switched to something other then Top 40 the place cleared out. Which wasnt a bad thing cuz most everyone there we didnt know. So it was just the core group of friends and ppl we wanted to be there so it was all good.

Now this track, I STILL have the single on tape. B-Side being Low Rider Madness, a VERY smooth intramental. Back when I had just one turntable I would put that B-Side on a scratch to it. This song just reminds me of being about 12-13 and... well just chill'in with my homies back then. The songs talks about doing alot of "bad" things like drinking the first time with your Homies. Well that really didn't with me, but hay the song is very ill.

I hate songs giving shout outs to the DJ, but hay this song entered my life before I was a "DJ". This songs oddly reminds me of Prince's "U Got The Look". Why you ask, I use to record videos off MTV and BET and that use to be right after "Hay DJ" on my VHS tape.

yo, so I'm SUPER late on writing this...sorry. I went out to this show a couple of Fridays ago, Palabrazos 08. This was put togeather by Cara Mia Theatre and Sound Culture. Hosted by the great Tammy Gomez and with Cesar on the visuals. If you don't remember he helped out with all the visuals at the Halloween wearhouse party this past year, hope to do more parties soon with him. I had such a great time at this event and got to hang out with a lot of my Fort Worth peeps. This event was headlined by Verbobala.

great weekend....

ok so Me and my boy John had two gigs this past Saturday. First stop was at Kyle's (KMFD) pool. He had to put togeather a mixer for his apt and asked us to play. We thought this was going to be a tuff one cuz the apt management said NO HIP-HOP. I like stuff like this cuz it makes me dig deep in my crates and play music I usually don't play. I kicked it off with some jazzy and down tempo type stuff and John played some great rock songs, but as soon as the managment left we played some hip-hop. The day went very well and the people where great and the weather was awesome. This went longer them expected so we didn't have much down time as we wished we had.


Yes, we used two differant systems on the same set-up.




Well next was the "Campout for Hope" gig at TCU. We had the midnight till 2 time slot. ummmm, well we where told this event had a bunch of folks early in the day since it started like around 5 that afternoon. Well I guessed they all got tierd and left cuz when we showed there was only a hand full of folks and by midnight well.........ummm, at least we played on a nice sounding system. At the end we played a little dub-step that sounded great, bass had the stage shaking. We got shut down at around 1:45, oh well. Afterwards we ended the night at the great Denny's and yo they got this new shit, it's like some breakfest burger. Shit had a egg and hashbrowns in that shit, fucker was great.

So why is it every time I go to a Top 40 club the bouncers want to give me a hard time, like I'm some thug, some gangbanger, some creep looking to drug a chic or something....come on man FUNK DAT.

I got this on tape back when it first came out ('94). I was a kid so I don't remembered if this was big, but I was always bumping it on the Sony Walkman on my way to school. I would tell my friends about it and all they knew about House of Pain was "Jump Around" and for some jacked up reason that's all everyone thinks of when you say House of Pain. This weekend one of Dallas great tablelist died Fran aka DJ Frantic. Dude was crazy ill and a very cool guy. I met him a few years back at bar that was having a little open table/dj battle thing. I was so shocked he was down to earth, I've seen him in several battles around Dallas including DMC and I was like in ahhh that he was just talking to me. So I spent all weekend listening and organizing music for some up comming mobile gigs I landed at some schools (Middle and High) of all places. With all of todays music about sex and drugs it makes it a little difficult to know what should and should not be played. Even if it's a radio edit these kids know the real versions and at times sing out loud the real version. During my time in school I only attended one school dance and I was too drunk to know how that dj did things. Oh well I quess I'll just feel my way threw these gigs. I've done a few middle school dances already and they went well for the most part. At least with the High School kids I think I can get away with playing a little out side the box of Top 40.


oh and hopfully Me and some friends will get to work on an 80's party or something real soon.....my look of choice for the event Linear. Just peep there look!

Well it's been 3 years now for me to have Sirius Radio. I got it the year Howard Stern announced his move to Sirius. altho he didn't start till a year later. Well today marks two full years he's been on Sirius and let me tell ya'll it's the best. Even if you dont like him you need to get satellite radio. All the programs and stations are the best, BBC Radio 1, Boombox and Shade 45 are a few of my fav. Fuck FM radio!

It got a lot of air play and as a mater of fact still does get play on KNON (89.3) from time to time. This song was put out on Ultrax Records, but as from looking around on the site there's no sight of Goldfinger.

Right now I've been drinking hot green tea EVERY day. I had been drinking once a week for a few months, but I think with this new year I'll up it to once a day. At first I added suger to it, but now I'm drinking it plain and wow it was nasty at first, but now I'm getting use to the taste.
